Empire Triathletes!
Before going off to Franklin & Marshall College in the Fall, Empire swimmer Christopher Shannon completed the grueling 2012 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, which included a 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz island to St. Francis Yacht Club in frigid water, an 18 mile bike ride, and concluded with an 8 mile run. Christopher not only finished, but he placed second in his age group and in the top 5% of 2000 participants, with an overall time of 2:38.07! (Click here for the full story.) Christopher told us that his success was "Thanks to the intensity of Empire's year-round training and the importance of goal-setting if any one of wants to achieve results." But we know the training is only as good as the work you put into it -- so, congratulations on your hard work and great results Chrisopher! We are proud of you!!
Speaking of hard work... Empire swimmers Avery Kiesel, Isabel Kiesel, Garrett Kiesel, and Olivia Andrews were recently featured in a story on Wall Street Journal Live that focused on their training for the upcoming TOUGHKids Triathlon Championship on September 8th. Click here for a link to the WSJ story. Triathlons are a "family affair" for these athletes, and we wish them luck in their race!

Congratulations to the Empire Class of 2012!
