Kevin Stone,
Lightning and XTreme Coach
Kevin joins
Empire Swimming after thirteen successful years with Middies
Swimming. There, he was the Head Age-Group coach, and ran and
worked with swimmers from the developmental level through the
Senior Elite.
From 1996 to
2004 he was the head coach at the Coveleigh Club, part of the
Westchester County Swim Conference, where his team won four
consecutive County & Conference titles. Kevin was named
Conference Coach of the Year in 1996. He has recently resumed
coaching in the conference and is now the head swim coach at
American Yacht Club in Rye, NY.
Kevin has
coached at USS Zone Distance Camps in Atlanta and Washington,
D.C., as well as at a Metropolitan / Connecticut Age-Group Camp,
and has traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado to
coach at National Select Camps. Kevin is a Certified Pool
Operator, and has achieved level 3 recognition from the American
Swim Coaches Association.
Kevin's
swimmers have achieved USA Junior National times, numerous
National Age-Group Top 16 rankings, been YWCA National
champions, Metro record holders, Metro Junior Olympic champions
- short course and long course - and he has regularly placed
swimmers on the Metropolitan Zone Teams. In 2001, Kevin was
awarded the Metropolitan Age-Group Coach of the Year by
the American Swim Coaches Association.
In addition
to coaching, Kevin is the computer teacher for grades 4 - 8 at
Good Counsel Elementary School in White Plains.
